Ihlsee-Salon #3

October 28 @ 16:00 – 17:00

Topic: For our next Salon, we will read Mi You’s “The China Moment” and Su Wei’s “Individualism Through the Lens of the ‘China Conundrum’”, both published in The China Moment: Contextualizing Individualism in Chinese Contemporary Art (2026). Together, we will explore what defines the current moment in Chinese contemporary art and how it is represented in the West today. Has the “China moment” passed? Is the Western art world still interested in Chinese contemporary art—and, if so, on whose terms? We will also discuss how artists navigate these contexts and find ways to express themselves as individuals, both within the specific historical circumstances of contemporary China and in today’s global art world.

If you would like to join the meeting online, please contact us for the meeting details.
