The residency program is open to artists from or with connections to the Chinese-speaking world, with no restrictions on discipline, medium, gender, age, nationality, or career stage. We also welcome researchers, curators and cultural practitioners.
Annual resident artists are chosen by the committee together with partner institutions and collaborators. Artists are also welcome to apply independently.
Residency 2027
The first residency season is planned for summer 2027. For individual applications please send a CV and a portfolio of your work to contact[at]residenz-ihlsee[dot]org.
- Use of the house and studio space (entire house or shared)
- A green retreat with private access to the lake
- Opportunities for local and international exchange
- Public presentation formats such as exhibitions or related events
- Promotion of you and your work through our channels
Resident guidelines: Further practical information regarding duration, facilities and responsibilities will be shared upon selection.
- Monthly rent for the house, significantly below market rate
- International travel expenses
- Local transportation
- Material costs, if needed
- Personal living expenses
We are actively seeking funding to support the residency, and we strongly encourage artists to secure funding from multiple sources to cover residency-related costs.
